Salaries in the sales sector

You can earn very good wages in the sales sector, although the minimum wage in the sector is not very high. But let’s start by looking at salaries in the sales sector through the median salaries in the sector.

The best median wage in sales is in manufacturing, where the median monthly wage is €4 170. It was also in manufacturing that sales wages rose the most over the year, up 4.8%. Median wages for sales workers in wholesale trade are slightly lower than in manufacturing, at €4 000 per month, and in retail trade and services they fall even further. In services, the median wage in sales is €3 920, while in retail it is only €3 590. On the one hand, the minimum wages for commercial workers are considerably lower than this, but on the other hand, there are also direct sales guns who can earn very good monthly salaries. This makes it difficult to know how much you can earn as a salesperson, as the sky is the limit for many jobs.

If you want to know the minimum wages in sales, you should consult the salary scales for the sector. For example, the minimum wage for retail workers in Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen and Vantaa is 1. from 1 May 2022, for the first year of employment in step A, €1 842 per month and €11.51 per hour. The salary increases with the number of years worked, and is EUR 1 908 per month and EUR 11.93 per hour in the third year, EUR 2 010 per month and EUR 12.56 per hour in the fifth year and EUR 2 107 per month and EUR 13.17 per hour in the eighth year. In addition to years of service, your salary is also influenced by your pay grade. Elsewhere in Finland, the minimum wages for retail workers are slightly lower, but as mentioned, these are minimum wages in the sales sector.

The minimum wages for wholesalers are 1. From 1 May 2022, for class II in Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen EUR 2 446 and EUR 2 304 in the rest of Finland. The salary of wholesalers also increases with experience and is higher in category III, where the minimum salary is EUR 2 839 in Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen and EUR 2 658 in the rest of Finland.
